Alexanian

Born in 1977, Alexanian began his journey into craftsmanship at the age of fifteen, enrolling in a private goldsmith school. Over the course of three formative years, he mastered the traditional art of creating fine jewelry entirely by hand — a craft learned not through theory, but through relentless practice. His formal training included goldsmithing, gemology, and gemstone setting.

He built his expertise working for respected jewelers and auction houses, where he restored and repaired high-end jewelry pieces. In the early 2000s, his desire to deepen his knowledge of gemstones led him to gemological studies, where precision and eyesight were paramount. During an eye exam at a local optician, a profound realization struck: eyeglass frames are the most visible jewels one wears — a personal statement worn daily on the face.

This insight ignited his curiosity into the construction and mechanics of eyewear. He soon discovered that solid gold frames were an unexplored niche, with no accessible literature or guidelines. Through years of experimentation, self-instruction, and countless setbacks, Alexanian developed a technique to merge precision engineering with aesthetic finesse. By the late 2000s, he had successfully designed and produced his first two gold eyewear models.

His earliest creations were presented to select opticians in the Netherlands. In 2012, to expand both his technical capabilities and production, he acquired a goldsmith atelier. That same year, he made his debut at Silmo Paris, the world’s premier optical fair — marking the international launch of the Alexanian brand. From that point on, Alexanian became a distinguished name in the world of high-end golden eyewear, showcasing annually in Paris and serving an international clientele of opticians and private collectors.

By 2019, he began to reflect deeply on the essence of his creations: Why do I make eyewear? What am I truly contributing to an art form that has existed for centuries? These questions became the foundation for a new phase in his journey.
