Craftsmanship
Every Alexanian frame is entirely handmade. The process begins with melting and alloying 24k gold into 18k, then rolling it into shape. Hours of precise hammering follow, to achieve the desired structure and hardness — a delicate balance, as gold is naturally soft. Too much hardness makes it brittle; too little compromises durability. Achieving perfect harmony between strength and flexibility is key to the function and feel of the frame.
Due to the inclusion of mechanical and movable parts, such as hinges and nose pads, weight and balance are meticulously engineered. Frames are finished according to fine watchmaking standards: screws are mirror-polished under a microscope, sharp edges are chamfered at exact 90-degree angles, and details receive treatments such as bevelling, perlage, satin brushing, sandblasting, and high-gloss polishing.
Thanks to vertical integration, everything is produced in-house at the Alexanian atelier — from hand-tapping gold screws to crafting gear-shaped accents and nose pads. Each frame is 99% made of solid 18k gold, with an average production time of two weeks. For exceptional custom pieces, however, crafting a single frame can take up to half a year.
